We’re so excited for you and what’s ahead! Getting your licence (and freedom) really is a BIG deal!
The team at SBL2D will be with you every step of the way, to help you navigate this journey safely. So let’s get started.
Enrolling in PrepL
Before you can apply for a car (C class) learner licence in Queensland, you will need to successfully complete PrepL.
You can enrol in PrepL if you are at least 15 years and 11 months old. This will give you time to work through PrepL, so that you will be eligible to get your learner licence on your 16th birthday.
You will be able to do PrepL at your own pace, any time, using a compatible smartphone, tablet or computer. A download speed of 1.5mbps is required for PrepL to work on any device and you will need to allow 1.5GB to download the whole course. The content will download as you progress through the PrepL course.

Getting your Learner Licence
When PrepL is completed, you will need to obtain your Learner Licence from Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR). This needs to be done in person at a TMR office, or a participating police or QGAP office. What you need to bring can be found at this link:
https://www.qld.gov.au/transport/licensing/driver-licensing/applying/learner
A link to current license fees can be found here:

Once you hold a learner licence, you can book a driving lesson with us by using the Book Now button at the top of our website. Alternatively you can contact us via email, phone, text, Facebook, or Instagram, and we can customise your driving lessons to suit your requirements.
Your First Lesson
When booking your first lesson with us, be sure to select “initial lesson” (auto or manual) option. This 1 ½ hour lesson creates a safe and positive introductory environment to settle the nerves and complete a driving car familarisation.
We recommend you wear appropriate footwear, and you must carry your licence with you (either physically or digitally – stored on the digital licence app (available for download in Google store or Apple app store)). SBL2D can either pick you up from your home, school or we can arrange a meeting point – talk to us regarding this.
Hazard Perception Test
After holding your learners licence for more than 6 months, you will receive a link from TMR to complete your Hazard Perception test. This can be completed at any stage but must be completed prior to your 100 hours being up. Your Hazard Perception test must be completed before SBL2D can book a provisional licence test for you.

Talk to us directly to book your provisional driving test using one of SBL2D’s vehicles. On the day of your test, we give a pretest lesson and our fees include car hire for the test. The participant is responsible for purchasing their own provisional licence through TMR when successful.
